"For 75 years, county elected officials, leaders and employees have attended our annual conference, working together to address the diverse issues and needs of all 33 New Mexico Counties. This year we celebrate their long history of successes and look forward to 75 more years of collaboration for the benefit of all New Mexicans."

Conferences and Meetings

NMAC hosts two conferences per year to provide educational and networking opportunities for our members. The Legislative Conference occurs the opening week of the legislative session in January in Santa Fe. This conference provides our members networking opportunities with state officials and a chance to sit-in on the legislative session. Our Annual Conference occurs the third full week in June annually. The location varies based on proposals submitted from each county and decided upon by the NMAC Board of Directors. For each conference, affiliate chairs submit agendas including conducting of affiliate business, decisions on legislative resolutions, and educational speakers.

We also host every even numbered year our Better Informed Public Officials (BIPO) Conference prior to our legislative conference in January. This conferences focuses on the education of newly elected officials who take office January 1 of each even year. They have opportunities to learn from their peers, earn credit toward certificates in specific fields, and leave with a better knowledge of their respective duties of office.

As members of the National Association of Counties (NACo), our county members have access to webinars and conferences specific to county governments. NACo hosts two conferences per year: legislative conference in March and annual conference in July. Click the link in the menu under “Conferences” to be redirected to the NACo website.
