Multi-Line and Law Enforcement Pools

Multi-Line Pool Board of Directors
The Multi-Line Board of Directors oversees the operation of both the Multi-Line and Law Enforcement Pools. The Board is comprised of 10 voting members and three ex-officio members and meets five times a year. Board members serve two-year overlapping terms and can be an elected official or employee of a member county. Click here to view or download a copy of the Board roster.

Multi-Line Pool
Since January 1, 1989, the Multi-Line Pool has provided county members with property and casualty insurance coverage for:

  • Buildings and Contents
  • Automobile Liability
  • Personal Injury
  • General Liability
  • Employment Practices Liability
  • Public Official’s Errors and Omissions
  • Crime
  • Cyber Liability
  • Equipment Breakdown (aka “Boiler and Machinery”)
  • Pollution

Members can also purchase a separate policy for:

  • Land Use

Law Enforcement Pool
The Law Enforcement Pool began operations as a liability program August 1, 1995 with 19 original member counties. This Pool provides coverage for law enforcement activities, which includes sheriff departments and detention centers.

Annual Pool Membership Meetings
Each county member has one voting representative in the Multi-Line Pool, which meets annually in January at the NMAC Legislative Conference. The members elect the Board of Directors and discuss Multi-Line and Law Enforcement Pool business.

Claims Department
The staff in the Multi-Line Department administers property, general liability, civil rights, law enforcement and other claims on behalf of member counties. The Multi-Line claims examiners are very experienced and work exclusively on county risk and claims matters. The staff is extremely knowledgeable on how counties operate and the laws that apply to county government, especially in reference to the Tort Claims Act and federal civil rights laws. As some claims develop into litigation, the department retains outside defense counsel who are very experienced and have a high degree of expertise working on all types of cases, ranging from employment and civil rights matters, to automobile accidents. The department takes pride in working closely with member counties and defense counsel in providing professional customer service towards reaching reasonable claims resolutions.
