NEW MEXICO COUNTY INSURANCE AUTHORITY

Loss Prevention Program

 

 

Offers Numerous Services and Resources

 

The Insurance Authority offers numerous services and resources, including:

 

Audits:  Audits are used for loss prevention program assessment and hazard/exposure identification.

 

Inspections:  Physical plant, equipment, vehicle, and operational inspections for hazard identification and mitigation.

 

Consultant Services:  The Insurance Authority will provide member counties professional guidance for risk control development and mitigation strategies.

 

Training Services:  The Insurance Authority offers a variety of loss prevention training courses including bloodborne pathogens, defensive driving, electrical safety, emergency vehicle operations, ergonomics, fire safety, first aid and CPR, flagging, fleet safety, harassment in the workplace, Haz Com, hazard inspections, hiring/interviewing practices, law enforcement training, lockout/tagout, materials handling and lifting, risk management, sexual harassment/misconduct, traffic control and planning, trenching and shoring, workplace violence, and work zone safety.  In addition, the Insurance Authority provides various training courses specifically geared for law enforcement and detention officers, and often brings in outside experts to help provide specialized training.  Trainings are tailored to the specific needs of each county.

 

Risk Assessments:  The Insurance Authority uses risk matrix processes to evaluate the severity, frequency and probability of risk.

 

Video Library:  The Insurance Authority offers over 300 risk control videos including many topics involving animal control, detention, driving safety, fire safety, general safety, human resources, law enforcement, loss prevention, management, Road Safety.

 

Other Resources:  The Insurance Authority has cultivated a myriad of loss prevention contacts and resources in virtually every discipline including New Mexico Corrections, DPS, NM EMS Bureau, NM EID, NM Fire Marshal’s Officer, to name just a few.

    ::  Loss Prevention Staff
  The Insurance Authority Loss Prevention staff consists of four highly qualified professionals with over 86 years of diverse experience in administration, safety, loss prevention, risk control, education, employee law, inmate civil rights, and over 5,000 hours of advanced training in safety, loss prevention, and related subjects. 

Staff has expertise in proactive risk control programs, recognized risk management practices, strategic planning, program development, and training and curriculum development.  Moreover, staff members have specific expertise in high-risk governmental operations, e.g. detention, law enforcement, fire, emergency medical services, employment law, and public works.
