The  Summit provides an ideal opportunity for state, local, and community leaders to discuss and prepare the state for wildfires, including the impending 2018 wildfire season . The theme for the 2018 WUF Summit is “Collaborative Community Action” and this topic will be addressed throughout the three-day event. This annual collaborative event is hosted by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Forest Service, New Mexico State Land Office, New Mexico State Forestry,  New Mexico State Land Office, Forest Stewards Guild, Northern Arizona University- Southwest Fire Consortium, and New Mexico Association of Counties.
