Wildland Urban Interface Summit
The 2017 Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) Summit occurred in Albuquerque, New Mexico to engage greater Albuquerque area residents about risk of wildfire. It is becoming more essential for fire management professionals, emergency responders, local government officials, and residents to collaborate and increase wildfire preparedness so that devastation is not the imminent result of future fires.
This event is one of New Mexico’s largest meetings to discuss and prepare the state for wildfires. The theme for the 2017 Summit is “WUI: Closer Than You Think”. This annual collaborative event is hosted by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Forest Service, New Mexico State Land Office, New Mexico State Forestry, Forest Stewards Guild, Northern Arizona University- Southwest Fire Consortium, Grant County, and New Mexico Association of Counties.
