Wildland Urban Interface Summit
Registration is open! The 2017 Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) Summit is landing in Albuquerque, New Mexico to engage the greater Albuquerque area residents that living in the most urban part of the state does not mean there is no risk of wildfire. More and more, it is becoming essential for fire management professionals, emergency responders, local government officials, and residents to partner and increase wildfire preparedness so that future fires are not absolutely devastating.
This event is one of New Mexico’s largest meetings to discuss and prepare the state for wildfires. The theme for the 2017 Summit is “WUI: Closer Than You Think”. It will be held at the Sheraton Airport Hotel in Albuquerque with overnight rooms available to attendees at a nightly rate of $89.
This annual collaborative event is hosted by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Forest Service, New Mexico State Land Office, New Mexico State Forestry, Forest Stewards Guild, Northern Arizona University- Southwest Fire Consortium, Grant County, and New Mexico Association of Counties.
