Associate Veterinarian will provide humane medical care, emergency treatment, husbandry, spay/neuter and other surgical functions to a variety of shelter and public animals. Complete daily rounds, prescribe medicine and monitor administration of drugs by trained staff, develop, and implement tailored animal health treatment programs, perform anesthesia, and conduct surgeries, and follow all operational medical protocols based on best practice shelter management and herd maintenance. Incumbent mentors lower-level veterinary staff and oversees Veterinarian operations and staff in the absence of the Chief Medical Officer of the facility. Employee supervision includes hire selection, training oversight, performance assessment, coaching, disciplinary and termination actions.
