This position will provide education, protection, and interpretation of cultural, historic, and natural resources to ensure that visitation to open space and trail properties is conducted in a safe and respectful manner. The Open Space Interpretive Ranger will patrol and assist visitors in Santa Fe County’s network of open space and trail properties. This position provides visitor safety, assistance, and education as well as managing volunteer workers. Duties include patrolling open space areas, enforcing rules and regulations, developing and presenting interpretive and educational programs for visitors, working with volunteers to protect natural and cultural resources, and professionally representing the County under varied circumstances and to diverse audiences. Work will be conducted independently with minimal supervision. This position requires effective communication skills related to conflict resolution and deescalating situations in a professional manner.
