Description: According to the U.S. Department of Labor, workplace violence is the third leading cause of fatal occupational injury in the U.S. However, contrary to popular opinion, the FBI reports that sensational homicides represent only a very small number of workplace violence incidents. Many of the more common but less dramatic incidents go unreported to employers — and often even to the police — until they escalate to actual physical assault. While the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) estimates that two million employees are victims of workplace violence each year, experts agree that the problem is widely underreported.
These statistics may seem alarming, but training is one of the most effective tools for prevention. This webinar will provide practical guidance on how to recognize the warning signs of violent behavior, dispel common myths, what types of conduct are considered workplace violence, and why employees may hesitate to report threats. Participants will learn how to respond effectively to situations ranging from non-physical aggression to active shooter incidents. We will also highlight the importance of a workplace violence policy, clear reporting procedures, and strategies that can help stop incidents before they escalate.
Violence can happen anywhere, but it can often be avoided or mitigated through preparation and awareness.
