Luna History & Culture

Luna County was created 1901, from Grant and Dona Ana County, and named after Solomon Luna, who was a politician and cattle rancher.

Deming is a southwestern corner rich with history, atmosphere, and sunshine, all in great abundance.
The desert with the Florida mountains in the background offer spectacular views year round. Their state parks are diverse from one end of the desert to the other and into the mountains of the Black Range. The water and the agricultural influence make Deming an oasis in the desert.

Columbus is a retreat from the daily pressures of a fast paced, dog-eat-dog, and inhospitable social climate that is prevailing in these uncertain times we’re living in. The Village of Columbus offers the weariest of souls a real opportunity to rejuvenate, relax, re-center, and to quite literally “Get away from it all”.

The climate and beauty of Luna county beckons you. It is a joy to live, do business, or experience a visit to our area.
